Exhibition: Celts in Eastern Bohemia

Exhibition: Celts in Eastern Bohemia

2012 – 2014

The aim of the exhibition “Celts in Eastern Bohemia” was to present the latest findings on Celtic settlement in eastern Bohemia. It was designed primarily for an informed general public and for primary and secondary school pupils.

Visitors could admire a collection of archaeological finds on loan from museums across the Czech Republic — items that had never before been exhibited together. These finds document individual sites of Celtic settlement in eastern Bohemia. Alongside the original artefacts and accompanying panels, the exhibition also featured illustrative dioramas — including a reconstruction of a Celtic millstone workshop beneath Kunětická hora — as well as multimedia and interactive elements.

Museum Education Programme

The programme for children and school groups was a central part of the exhibition, presenting an innovative approach to museum education. During the tour, pupils worked with a sticker album that served both as an information carrier and as a motivational tool. At the end of the visit they entered a dedicated activity room where they could try modelling Celtic artefacts from clay, identify historical textiles, grind grain on a stone quern, or take on the role of an archaeologist.
