Footsteps of the Celts Exhibition

Footsteps of the Celts Exhibition

2004 – 2026

The “Footsteps of the Celts” exhibition explores the culture of the Late Iron Age in Bohemia and the Chrudim region, with a particular focus on life at the oppidum that stood on a promontory above the Chrudimka river near Nasavrky in the 2nd and 1st centuries BC.

Boii association first opened the exhibition on the first floor of Nasavrky Castle in 2004 — as one of the first interactive Celtic exhibitions in the region. Visitors do not merely look at exhibits; they step directly into the La Tène period: they try Celtic crafts, peer into the interior of a nobleman’s house, or study a detailed 3 × 4 metre model of the České Lhotice oppidum.

Since its founding the exhibition has been expanded and updated several times — partly thanks to support from the European Culture 2000 project. Thousands of pupils from across the region have passed through it as part of educational programmes.

The exhibition is today operated by the town of Nasavrky.
